This American Standard Front Toilet Seat didn't feel very good to sit on from day 1 but it is just a toilet seat so I ignored the feel. After several months, under a year, the finish started to lift and flake off. It looked awful. Whatever seal was put over the probably particle board Laurel seat, it is lousy and the seat wasted my money. We should not have to buy a new toilet seat every year. Since I never liked the feel in the first place, I went out and purchased an entirely different brand, different seat, all plastic, which feels and looks great. Spend a little more up front and I expect my new American Standard Front Toilet Seat to last my lifetime.
